Association between physical activity and the severity and trajectory of symptoms in patients with COVID-19

Aim

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the association between physical activity and the severity as well as the trajectory of symptoms in patients with COVID-19.

Background

The severity of symptoms in patients with COVID-19, their trajectory as well as the long-term consequences of the disease are extremely heterogeneous. Some key risk factors for serious disease and death in COVID-19 cases have been clearly identified such as age and overweight to name but a few. However, the heterogeneity in the response to the infection remains largely unexplained. PA may have protective effects against severe COVID-19-associated outcomes.
